'I believe in the power of courage and self-determination. Too often we get stuck in the 'Problem'. With support, information, exploration and encouragement each of us can begin to live in the 'Solution'. My experience as a Social Worker has allowed me to see lives change. We all have dark days and, we can find a place of 'reasonable contentedness' and peace.'
Peace ~ Denise

Ann Alyi-FurrerMA, LPC
Master of Arts in Counseling Master of Social Work
Licensed Professional Counselor
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
DBT Infused Group Facilitator
LPC# 37PC00780700I work as an integrative psychotherapist. Each individual I work with is unique and I believe there is not a one size fits all approach. I meet the individual where they are in the present moment and work from there. I believe that the ability to reach a sense of calm, satisfaction, and peace within oneself is attainable. I am experienced in person centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy. The underlying principles of the person centered approach are based on a foundation of empathy, unconditional positive regard and authenticity. This approach is very effective with many individuals. There are times when individuals thrive on a cognitive based approach, for example, when they struggle with negative thinking patterns. It is with these individuals that I incorporate dialectical behavioral and cognitive behavioral skills with much success.
Ann graduated with her Master’s in “Counseling Psychology'' from the College of Saint Elizabeth and has over ten years of experience in the field of mental health. She has worked in different settings, including private practice, intensive out-patient, partial hospitalization programs, transitional homes and in-home. Ann has experience with individual, couples, family and group therapy and has worked with a broad range of diagnosis including anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, personality disorders, mood disorders, bipolar, adhd, and autistic spectrum disorder.

Jenn earned her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from William Patterson University in 2021. She is currently working towards the credentials of her second career as a Licensed Professional Counselor. She spent almost a decade as an elementary and middle school music teacher in Northern Virginia. Having a connection with a person who actively listens and can empathize with your experience is an important piece of the therapeutic process. Throughout her transition from teacher to therapist, Jenn has found establishing this type of connection is something she is passionate about and is a skill that is crucial in both fields. She is passionate about working with children and teens in addition to adults. Therapy is great place to get support, challenge yourself in a supportive and nonjudgmental environment, and heal.
